People don’t stay in the same job forever.
That’s true everywhere, but anyone who has worked in the nonprofit world knows just how frequently good people come and go. In fact, research has found that nearly 4 in 10 nonprofit and philanthropic employees had been with their current organization for three years or less.
Which means organizations like Crosslines are almost always recruiting.
We’ve learned not to see that as entirely a bad thing.
At Crosslines, we believe people come to us for a reason and for a season. Sometimes that season lasts a few years. Sometimes it becomes a career. And sometimes someone comes into our organization, changes us for the better, and then is called to take what they’ve learned here somewhere else.
We trust God with that timeline.
It changes the way we think about hiring, too. We’re not simply trying to fill an empty chair. We’re asking a bigger question:
Who has God prepared for this particular season at Crosslines?
Working at Crosslines is a little different.
On any given day, you might walk past volunteers packing diapers, a family shopping for groceries, a child picking out new clothes, a case manager helping someone navigate a crisis, or a woman taking the next step toward stable housing.
Even if none of those things are in your job description, you are part of making them happen.
That’s one of the things that makes our culture unique: the mission is never very far away.
We are a Christian organization made up of people with different backgrounds, experiences and areas of expertise, united by a common purpose—loving our neighbors well. We believe compassion should lead to action, excellent work matters, and every role contributes to the mission.
We also expect a lot from one another.
At Crosslines, our organizational behaviors are simple: Organization over self. Show up and follow through. Seek to understand and be understood.
That means we work hard. We solve problems. We help one another. We celebrate wins across programs, not just our own. And when the community needs us, we figure out how to respond together.
And perhaps the best evidence of our culture is the people who have discovered that a job here can become something much bigger than they expected—a place to grow, lead, serve and use their gifts in ways that matter.
Maybe Your Next Chapter Is Here
As Crosslines continues to grow, we’re always looking for talented people who want their work to impact the community.
Right now, we’re recruiting for several key positions, including Vice President of Advancement, Director of Case Management, and Shelter Monitor.
But those won’t be our last openings.
So even if one of today’s positions isn’t right for you, keep watching. And if you know someone whose talent, character and heart for service would make Crosslines stronger, send them our way.
Come do work that matters—with people who believe it matters.
